Yes a new beginning. It has been a while since my last word was given. Perhaps these words by Thomas Merton best express my own thoughts as well as his and something that we all discern in the process of expressing our thoughts, opinions or criticisms positively or negatively in these times .
"Though I have been quite busy, I see more and more that the dimension of my life that has meaning is the solitary one, which cannot be expressed. There are things which can and must be communicated but it is an error to attach too much importance to them. I think it is really a waste of time for me to write more books on 'the spiritual life' in the usual sense of the word. I have done enough already. And at the same time it seems futile to write about the way the world is going: yet it is true there are times when one must speak. But one must be sure of the necessity.
Thomas Merton.
And so a new beginning. In the following weeks I will be sharing with you my reflections on a series of 18 lectures on Christian Mysticism by Thomas Merton and sharing with you reflections of the mystics who have been instrumental in my spiritual journey. I am looking forward to seeing your comments.
Welcome fellow seekers and pilgrims...
Like the pilgrams that sought out the early desert Abbas and Ammas for a "word" my hope and prayer is that a word can be found by you at this site as you journey on your path seeking God . It will not be one from my lips as all I have been capable of saying is that I honestly don't believe that I have any words of wisdom to pass on and maybe there are way too many "words" being expressed out there already. But I am being once again nagged terribly by that inner voice within my heart of hearts and so I must write. May the spoken words of my mouth, the thoughts of my heart, win favor in your sight, O Lord, my rescuer, my rock! (Psalm 19:15)
